In 2009, I was given an amazing opportunity to participate in a medical outreach program in Eldoret, Kenya through Hope Homes International.
Hope Homes International supports pop-up clinics throughout Kenya that provide free medical exams, food, vitamins, and medications for families who are unable to afford them. My role in this program was to transcribe medical histories for the doctors, distribute food to the families, and help package their prescribed medications. This experience played a pivotal role in my decision to pursue medicine.
Hope Homes International, founded by my aunt and uncle Moira and William Thompson in 2001, is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing foster homes, food, education, and medical help for abused, abandoned, and orphaned children in and around Eldoret, Kenya.
